RESEARCH

Blue Hills Foundation Research

The Foundation is dedicated to supporting ecological research and is interested in advancing knowledge on forest resilience in the face of climate change and invasive pests and disease, maximizing carbon sequestration in arboreal forests, water quality monitoring, and ensuring the protection of habitat for our state’s wildlife. The large size, diverse forest and wetland communities and varied ownership and land use history make the Foundation lands an ideal location for cultural, ecological, forestry and agricultural studies. The BHF has productive partnerships with researchers and professors and their students at Harvard Forest and the University of New Hampshire. Numerous research projects have included the BHF lands as a study site and it is visited annually by one or more classes from these institutions. Researchers interested in using the lands as a laboratory should contact us at bluehillsfoundation@gmail.com.
